Aronia melanocarpa Extract

trans-Chalcone, isolated from Aronia melanocarpa skin, is a biphenolic core structure of flavonoids precursor. trans-Chalcone is a potent fatty acid synthase (FAS) and α-amylase inhibitor. trans-Chalcone causes cellcycle arrest and induces apoptosis in the breastcancer cell line MCF-7. trans-Chalcone has antifungal and anticancer activity.

Procyanidin B5 is an antioxidant with a IC₅₀ of 0.1 mM in lipid peroxidation assays using mouse liver homogenates. Procyanidin B5 scavenges superoxide anions and hydroxyl radicals, and inhibits lipid peroxidation. Procyanidin B5 can be used in research related to cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and malaria.

Glucobarbarin is a glucosinolate that can be isolated from cruciferous species such as Barbarea stricta. Under the enzymatic action of myrosinase, glucobarbarin is converted to barbarin via an unstable isothiocyanate intermediate, and further converted to resedine.
