Biological Activity: N-Hydroxy sulfamethoxazole (Sulfamethoxazole hydroxylamine) is a Sulfamethoxazole (HY-B0322) metabolite formed by CYP2C9 oxidation that oxidizes hemoglobin to methemoglobin. N-Hydroxy sulfamethoxazole induces haptenation on the surface of viable leukocytes, neutrophil apoptosis, and inhibits neutrophil function. N-Hydroxy sulfamethoxazole is associated with hypersensitivity reactions and can be used in the study of hypersensitivity reactions[1][2].
