Biological Activity: Epibatidine dihydrochloride is a potent neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) activator. Epibatidine dihydrochloride induces endoplasmic reticulum calcium release through activation of nAChR, which in turn activates the PKC/ERK/HO-1 signaling axis, exerting anti-apoptotic effects by inhibiting ROS production and attenuating mitochondrial depolarization. Epibatidine dihydrochloride can be used in research on neurodegenerative diseases[1].
