Heliomicin
Heliomicin is an antifungal peptide that binds to fungus-specific glucosylceramide sphingolipids. Fungal membrane glucosylceramide is required for the activity and growth inhibitory effect of Heliomicin. Heliomicin has no antibacterial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Heliomicin can be used in research related to fungal infections.

Biological Activity
Description
In Vitro
Heliomicin inhibits Candida albicans and Pichia pastoris with an MIC of 2.5 μM, whereas gcs deletion mutants are at least 20-fold more resistant[2].
Heliomicin inhibits the growth of planktonic Candida albicans and achieves 50% inhibition against two Candida albicans isolates, whereas Candida glabrata is not inhibited[5].
