photoCORM-1
photoCORM-1 is a visible light-induced carbon monoxide-releasing molecule and antibacterial (Antibacterial) agent. photoCORM-1 produces non-toxic byproducts and turns on fluorescence through pbt decoordination under blue, green, or red light. photoCORM-1 is internalized by cancer cells and normal cells, localizing to the cytoplasm and mitochondria. photoCORM-1 induces apoptosis (Apoptosis) under light irradiation. photoCORM-1 exhibits anticancer activity against lung cancer under light irradiation. photoCORM-1 exhibits antibacterial and antibiofilm activity against ESKAPE bacteria. photoCORM-1 can be used for research on breast cancer and LPS-induced inflammation.

In Vitro
photoCORM-1 (0-128 µg/mL; 24 h) inhibits K. pneumoniae biofilm formation at 4-8 µg/mL and inhibits A. baumannii biofilms at 32 µg/mL under blue light irradiation, whereas the biofilm MIC is 128 or >128 µg/mL in the dark[4].
photoCORM-1 releases CO under irradiation from visible to near-infrared light, with blue light being the most effective in online IR and fluorescence detection, allowing detection within 5 min at 410 nm[3].
MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.
-
Cell Line:MDA-MB-231 and HEK-293 cells
-
Concentration:10, 20, 40, 50 μM
-
Incubation Time:15 min at 410 nm irradiation
-
Result:Without irradiation, more than 80% of MDA-MB-231 cells were viable even at 50 μM.
After photoirradiation (410 nm for 15 min), cell viability decreased to less than 20% at 50 μM.
IC50 was 21.9 μM with light irradiation (15 min, 410 nm) and 202.3 μM without light irradiation.
HEK-293 cells showed a similar viability trend.
