Filastatin is a long-lasting inhibitor of Candida albicans filamentation. Filastatin inhibits adhesion by multiple pathogenic Candida species with an IC50 of ~3 μM in the GFP-based adhesion assay. Filastatin inhibits fungal adhesion to polystyrene and human cells, the yeast-to-hyphal morphological transition, induction of the hyphal-specific HWP1 promoter. Filastatin has potent antifungal effect .

Polyoxin D (Polyoxorim) is an Antifungal Antibiotic. Polyoxin D inhibits Chitin synthase with an I50 of 1 mM for Stomoxys calcitrans chitin synthase. Polyoxin D causes swelling and rupture of fungal hyphal tips and budding yeast cells, haustorial encasement, haustorial wall thickening, widening of the extrahaustorial matrix, and cytoplasmic vesicles and tubular structures. Polyoxin D causes swelling of filamentous chains in Candida albicans and morphological changes in Agaricus bisporus and Coprinus cinereus. Polyoxin D is used in research on bean rust and Candida albicans infections .

3‑Penten‑2‑one (Ethylideneacetone; (3Z)-pent-3-en-2-one) is an endogenous metabolite and a small-molecule ketone with antifungal activity. 3‑Penten‑2‑one induces HO‑1 expression, inhibits iNOS expression and NO production in lipopolysaccharide-activated RAW264.7 macrophages, and exerts anti-inflammatory effects. 3‑Penten‑2‑one inhibits the growth of Penicillium italicum, disrupts fungal hyphal and spore morphology and damages the cell membrane, and also exhibits inhibitory activity against various plant pathogenic fungi. 3-Penten-2-one can be used in research related to fungal infections and inflammatory diseases .

Target:

Fungal

Research Areas:

Cyclo (Arg-Pro) TFA is a chitinase inhibitor. Cyclo (Arg-Pro) TFA disrupts cell separation and morphological transition of yeast by inhibiting chitinase activity. Cyclo (Arg-Pro) TFA prevents cell separation of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, leading to the formation of grape-like cell clusters, without inhibiting cell growth. Cyclo (Arg-Pro) TFA blocks the morphological transition of Candida albicans from yeast form to hyphal form, without inhibiting cell growth .
